Convention 2013 – Wellness Program: Miles for Myles

Just as with the 2009 Walk to Convention Wellness Program and the 2011 Tour de Shuls fundraising bike ride to support the Ramah Commission, this year we are holding a combined wellness program and fundraiser for FJMC.

The incoming President of the FJMC, Myles Simpson, has graciously allowed us to use his name for a wellness program and fundraising campaign for FJMC.  Each mile you ride, run, or walk will benefit FJMC, when you pledge to raise $1/mile for FJMC.

  • For example, if you pledge to ride 100 miles between now and the end of convention, that is $100 for FJMC.
  • You can even ask your friends to support you in your efforts by agreeing to support your fundraising and wellness program with a donation of their own.
  • Our goal is to collectively have sufficient mileage to get Myles Simpson from Los Angeles to Boston and back (almost 6000 miles).

Men can participate either as part of a team (their Men’s Club) or as individuals. Men do NOT need to attend the convention to participate in this program. More information regarding this program is available on the Miles for Myles Web site, including a mileage tracking spreadsheet.

Mileage is the total of miles earned by all participating members either by biking, swimming, running or walking.  For those who do other cardio workouts, they will earn 2 miles for each 15 minutes of activity allowing them to participate as well.
